The Hudsons brought together authors from various cultural and racial backgrounds, and gave them this chance to tell their story as though having a “talk” with a family member or friend (mostly their children). I found this may be helpful to those parents or uncles or aunts that are trying to explain the cultural/racial stereotypes created by society to their children. I don’t have children, but honestly in most of these stories, I felt like the child.

I also enjoyed the depth and variation of these stories. On T.V. or the radio, we are mostly hearing about injustice to African Americans (Black Lives Matter movement) and women (MeToo movement). But we hardly hear about the injustices to everyone else - such as Native Americans, Asians, the elderly and people with disabilities. It pains me to see so many people refusing to accept that we are all on this world together, share 99.9 percent of our genetic makeup with each other, and want what’s best for everyone.
