A Second Glance

Sipping on wine and setting up this game.

Then you come along and announce your name.

I am offended by your confidence and ashamed of your stance,

And that was my judgement at first glance.

Yet upon another,

Your eyes tell me this is where kindness dwells,

And the deeper I look, the more my heart swells.

Your voice is rough but inexplicably calming,

Like a fresh breath taken in a new day dawning.

Now you come near and I freeze with anxiety,

How was it I ended up in your society?

Shall I take this risk if I am to be near you,

Or will this plan backfire and break me in two?
