Reset

Tension slowly eased out of my shoulders,

and my toes dug deep into the warm sand.

My toes dug deep into the warm sand,

My mind gone blank as I shut my brown eyes.

My mind gone blank as I shut my brown eyes,

Filling it with the sounds of the the rushed tide.

Filling my mind with the tide and the gulls,

But their chatter starts to become louder.

Their constant chattering becomes so loud,

They are the noise I ran away from.

They are the noise I ran away from

In the first place. Can I not get away?

Can I not get away from the gossip?

The cottage rental is mine for the week.

The cottage is mine, all mine for the week.

Will that be enough to reset it all?

I hope it’s enough to reset it all,

And block out the lies and the cameras.

I block out the lies and the cameras,

At least it’s a start to find out the truth.

At least it’s a start to find out the truth,

A truth so well hidden from everyone.

A truth so well hidden from everyone,

Even I can’t distinguish who I am.
