An Easter Dream

I was falling asleep when the faint outline of a door appeared on my ceiling.

I was thinking of what I had to do the next day, when I started to notice it. The outline was blurry though. I was falling asleep- maybe it wasn't actually there.

No, there was definitely a door on my ceiling. However, I needed to prove that to myself.

Under my covers, I stared at the ceiling and thought, "I know there is a door there. I can see it. I'm not fooled by you, and I know there is something behind it."

Who exactly was "you"? What made me think there was something behind it? I kept nagging at the door,

"Just open up. I won't freak out, because I already know what will happen."

I had no idea what would happen. Why was this so important to me?

Apparently my bluff worked - the outline of the door was clearer now and there was absolutely, most positively a door there now. It started to open.

I was frozen in place because, as you know, I did NOT know what was behind that door. I prepared for the worst. A monster come to eat my feet? A new world I would be vacuumed into, lost forever?

The door opened all the way, revealing a black room on the other side. Suddenly over the edge of the door frame, two white black ears popped up. What came into view was not a monster or a swirling vortex, but a white stuffed rabbit. Not just a stuffed rabbit either - it was the most adorable stuffed animal I'd ever seen. Cuteness aside, since I was expecting something more horrific come through the door, this was honestly a bit of a letdown.

So when the cute little rabbit jumped through the door and into my hands, I squeezed the plushness of its fur and wished it was at least an evil little rabbit. The rabbit turned to look at me with it's big, round brown eyes and they instantly started glowing red. It opened it's tiny, pink mouth to reveal enormous fangs and the evil little rabbit started to growl at me.

Overcome with fear, I threw the rabbit against the wall and woke up. There was no door on my ceiling and no desire to provoke it.
