cosmically insignificant and still doing my nails

Work has been stressing me out. But when I feel the tension in my neck and my heart beating hard enough that my Oura ring thinks I’m doing a Power Yoga session (No joke – every day at work this week, it’s logged it as Yoga), I take a deep breath and just remember how insignificant I am. Not just me, but everything I’m doing that is causing me the stress – endless projects, cats throwing up, dying plants, snoring boyfriends, overgrown grass, mosquito bites, running late, groceries, etc., etc., etc. Deep breaths – I mean nothing.

It may sound depressing to some of you still banking on finding a true meaning of life, but the more I know how insignificant I am in the grand scheme of things, the more comforted I am. We are all just ants. (I hate this metaphor though because ants are amazing creatures that have lived way longer than us, have figured out their social structure, and also have super strength). But ant or not, I’m always grateful to have this chance to live my insignificant life.

To feel the summer breeze as I type this up on my back patio, to experience the heart someone puts into a song, to witness other creatures living – just living. And to sit here, cosmically insignificant, and to admire this new deep red on my nails. Worth it.

  1. I like to consider myself an ant too, but because I am also small and mighty ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿœ
