Skeleton encased in red wrapper.

A Sinner’s Sonnet

As I sit in flames in the depths of Hell,
I burn. But I also ponder, Why me?
It was a shock not to rise when I fell
In darkness where I could do naught but scream.

And as the blood-drenched gates creaked open wide,
A paralytic fear overtook me,
When a wrathful fire gripped each my sides,
Dragged me in for those eager to eat me.

As I endured, endure, and will endure
A torture that dements my beaten soul,
I still wonder why I roast in fires-
What deeds had I done to cost me this toll?

When I dared ask Lucifer, she did smile-
“That’s exactly what makes you so worthwhile.”
