Ode to a Dreamer

Why do you struggle to stifle your yawns?
You’ll never stop the undulating waves-
They’re inevitable as rising dawns.

Take solace in the mysterious caves,
Filled deep with treasures we can call our own.
Go! Release life’s shackles that keep us slaves!

Here, you are tasteless meat and brittle bones,
Fast decaying into a walking corpse.
There, you are Gods wandering skies unknown.

And with each passing slumber, your life warps
Into a world you built on desire,
And fears, and love, and anger, and remorse.

I will leave you to ponder and inquire,
As my yawns tell me I shall soon retire.
